Weall know dogs are amazing, but did you know they’re also good for your health?
In a recent study, they found that that dog ownership is linked to living a longer life for a large variety of reasons — specifically, the risk of disease was significantly decreased.
Pet a Dog — It’ll Improve Your Health!
- Are you familiar with the “cuddle hormone” or “love hormone” oxytocin? Well, just PETTING a dog will release this hormone which has been shown to assist with depression, decrease stress, and help manage anger
- Petting a dog can also help you physically! The action of just petting that cute cuddly pooch can decrease risk for heart disease, lower blood pressure, and more! If you own a dog and walk them regularly (which you should as a responsible dog owner), they help you get out of the house and get moving!
- This is from my own study — playing tug of war with a dog can help define biceps, core, and triceps (haha).
Don’t own a dog already? I really encourage (if you’re up for it) to foster a dog. There are many dogs in need of a foster, and it’s a great way to see if you’re truly ready for the responsibility of owning a dog.
