CRATE TRAIN YOUR FRENCH BULLDOG – A complete guide

Want to crate train your french bulldog?

A lot of you have been asking how to get your french bulldog to LOVE their crate. Read on as I go over how to properly crate, train your Frenchie.

This will apply to any dog as well…I just happened to be training this cute little Frenchie, Roo that day! You can watch the video below.

You can also download my step-by-step crate training protocol here.

Introduce the crate TO YOUR fRENCHIE

First, open the crate door and allow your puppy to explore. As soon as your frenchie pup enters the crate, use a happy and encouraging voice to welcome him and reward with a LOT of tasty treats.

Speak in a cheerful tone, so that your puppy associates his time in the crate with positive reinforcement. When he’s done exploring, encourage him in the same way and reward him with treats for good behavior.

With consistent practice and praise, your pup will quickly learn how to feel comfortable inside the crate. The key is to make sure you are always patient and understanding. Remember: Positive reinforcement goes a long way!

Increase duration in the crate

Now, continue to feed your French Bulldog puppy while they are in the crate. Occasionally drop treats, but refrain from closing the crate door just yet. This will keep them happy and will help them to associate the crate with something positive.

You can also feed their meals in the crate so they associate it with all good things. With patience and dedication, you’ll have a happy, healthy pup in no time!

Make the crate REALLY fun for your frenchie

When you bring home new toys, chews, or bones for your French Bulldog puppy, it’s a good idea to introduce them inside the crate. This helps your puppy associate all good things with the crate.

CONCLUSION: Crate train YOUR FRENCH BULLDOG

Let’s approach crate training your French Bulldog as a cooperative adventure that nurtures your bond, boosts their self-assurance, and caters to their distinctive needs.

This gratifying process revolves around positivity, understanding, and patience, reinforcing your heartfelt connection while creating a sanctuary for your Frenchie.

To begin your training journey, present their new crate in a warm and welcoming manner and gradually extend the time they spend there.

Focus on building a rich, enticing environment that may include hiding tasty treats, serving meals, or introducing new toys inside their crate.

However, bear in mind that every Frenchie is unique—tailor the process according to your pup’s pace and character.

As a general rule, the crate should symbolize joy, safety, and comfort—never punishment.

With dedication and consistency, this training will not only carve out a cozy space for your Frenchie but also pave the way for a less anxious and more harmonious life together. Happy crate training!
